Building Bull City doesn't usually cover office build-outs within a pre-existing building, but the announcement that Microsoft will be bringing an "Innovation Hub" to the Chesterfield Building is big news.

When I discussed Durham with Duke's Scott Selig, he talked about the need for more businesses in downtown Durham. This Microsoft Innovation Hub will be a collaboration with Duke, interfacing with Duke's Engineering and Medical schools.

The amount of space that Microsoft will be occupying in the building as well as financial info was not disclosed. I will say that the Chesterfield renovation looks very impressive. If you have a chance to go inside the building, take a look. There is great lab and office space within.
